Setting online assignments
MyLO provides the Assignments tool for developing electronic assignments. Electronic assignments are assessment tasks that can be submitted, processed and returned to students through MyLO. Tasks are usually written ones, and manually marked by teaching staff. Tasks can be assigned to individuals or groups.
The benefits of this tool are that paper use and management can be reduced, there is less reliance on manual postage/handling systems, and students can access their results more easily and quickly.
Hints and tips
- While the use of paper may be reduced, keep in mind that you will either have to read assignments on screen, or print them out.
- If you need to annotate your comments on the student's papers, then you will obviously have to print them out first. Online submission may not be efficient in this case.
- For larger classes - the time it takes to download students submissions can be significant.
